Filtered Light | Exploration

Learning from photographs of natural light, and the interaction between light and screen, I set out to create screens which allowed light through, but controlled the shadows to produce images in layers.

  1. Bill, I was glad to see how far your design progressed. Your choice to place thin members that slightly move at different distances from the exterior planes maximizes the possible ways your panel can appear. I like the ambiguity of the imagery : it can be seen as either abstract or as figurative (grasses in the wind?) Nice craftsmanship.

While the second panel is more successfully working with light, I find the images of your earlier experiment more successful because they screen out more of the extraneous elements.

And how about trying a video with the light moving?
